I’m breaking from our normal blog postings today. While following social media is important (and I find it fascinating), and understanding the economy is a good thing, I’m going to give you a glimpse into the Christian Foundation Grants world.
I arrived at work a few minutes early today and claimed my second favorite parking spot (this spot stays shady until the afternoon sun has the audacity to move the shadows to the other side of the street). It was rather cloudy this morning, but it was a nice break from the metal-liquidizing humidity we’ve had recently.
Once inside the building, I checked the striped green bowl near the receptionist’s counter, but it was empty. Sigh. They have been out of hot tamale candy for over a week now.
Sitting at my desk, I read Google Alerts for the most recent nonprofit news. There are always multiple stories about the economy, maybe one about Bill Gates, some social media tips, random stories about very rich (and now very dead) philanthropists, a few from the UK Telegraph, and as of late, Michael Jackson has appeared (he is showing up everywhere these days). But every once and awhile, I’ll find some random and crazy news. It may have been a good idea, but you have to admit that the idea of a happy chicken blog just makes you laugh.
It’s always fairly quiet in the morning aside from the computer clicks and taps. People are answering emails, writing articles, researching nonprofits, updating information, and so forth. I’m enjoying typing away on the computer today…there’s something about wearing shiny red nail polish that makes it fun to watch your fingers type.
I’m thinking that we need to redecorate our office. Several years ago, Brent, our boss, listened to our suggestions for an office pet and said he would consider getting a “sharpin and dolkin” tank. I have no idea what those creatures are, but my co-worker and sister, Jessica, insists that Brent meant “sharks and dolphins.” So far, we don’t even have a whiteboard to decorate our office. Apparently, the mascot we had drawn on our old whiteboard terrorized the staff, although I personally don’t see what is so scary about a Jedi bunny.
I hope you enjoyed this glimpse into CFG life. As for me, I’m headed back to work (and maybe to search for some hot tamales).
